On October 3, 2018, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced the availability of $300 million in funding, through its Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects (NSFLTP) Program, to build and repair roads and bridges that serve tribal or federal lands.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Tribes can apply directly for grants or in partnership with state or local agencies.
“This program will help underserved tribal areas fund large-scale infrastructure projects that will improve safety and mobility for their communities,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
